As the destination of the Trail of Death, St. Rose Philippine Duchesne lived with and taught the Pottawatomie tribe. Today, the park is what remains of a peaceful nature park and dedicated to St. Philippine as well as a memorial to the Pottawatomie Indians. St. Philippine’s shrine is designated as the Catholic Church located in Mound City. This site is locatedon 1525 Road in Centerville, KS (5.5 miles west of Highway 7). It is 20 miles south of Osawatomie, or 3 miles south of Centerville, Kansas.
